The CSULB woman's volleyball team is fired up to start off the Big West with two wins back to back this weekend.

The girls are ranked number 21 in the league and are determined to take down UCSB and Cal Poly this weekend, in what are sure to be very competitive matches.

Some changes have been made recently to the starting lineup. Due to an injury sustained by senior captain, Calitlin Ledoux.

"We will see if she can play this weekend but we have some depth in the outside hitter position with freshman, Bre Mackie, who stepped in nicely last weekend to help our team in its victory," said assistant coach Erika Chidester.

With an injury from one of their key players the CSULB women's volleyball team motivates and supports each other through thick and thin. Whether they are on the court playing or on the sidelines cheering there teammates on, there is nothing but a constant sense of teamwork radiating from each player.

In a sport like volleyball, teamwork is just as important as your skills. You cannot win a game on your own, it is a collective effort from every single person on that court. The girls start each game pumping each other up and motivating each other to do the best they can through a tradition that has been passed down through generations of 49er volleyball players.

Assistant coach Erika Chidester said, "There are traditions that have been passed down through many generations of 49er volleyball players. As a former player here I know there are ways we pumped each other up prior to the first whistle but each team is its own."

There is no doubt that there is a strong sense of 49er pride within the team. The pride each one of those girls has should motivate everyone to come out and support our girls and cheer them to two home wins this weekend.
